Chant's Funeral Home licence suspended after weekend fire

The provincial government says the licence for Chant's Funeral Home in Sydney has been temporarily suspended due to a recent fire.

The blaze on Saturday caused extensive damage, and Service Nova Scotia says it no longer meets the minimum requirements for a funeral home license.

The funeral home is not permitted to offer or provide any merchandise or services to the public during this suspension.

The suspension remains in effect until repairs have been made and is suitable once again for use.

Government says the new structure and business will be inspected prior to opening.

Anyone who has a funeral contract with Chant's Funeral Home is encouraged to contact Service Nova Scotia to learn about the available options.
