Charges laid in fatal collision in Hammonds Plains

RCMP say an 18-year-old man from Hammonds Plains has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death following a fatal collision last fall.

A 17-year-old boy was killed in the single-vehicle accident on October 13th on Rochester Drive in Hammonds Plains.

RCMP said at the time that the victim was the passenger in the car, which lost control and overturned in a ditch.

The accused, who was also 17-years-old at the time of the accident, was arrested at the scene for dangerous driving and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

He also faces charges of operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance, and operating an unregistered vehicle, and will appear in Halifax Provincial Youth Court later this month.
