Chief financial officer at IWK on paid leave of absence following resignation of former CEO

The chief financial officer at the IWK children's hospital is on a paid leave of absence after an independent report found the organization's former president and CEO Tracy Kitch, owes more than 22-thousand dollars in expenses.

The leave of absence was a joint decision by CFO Stephen D'Arcy and the facility's board of directors.

Kitch resigned last month for what was described as personal reasons, but a review of Kitch's expenses was ordered because of apparent discrepancies.

An accounting firm said its review of corporate credit card transactions, expense claims and other costs identified more than 47-thousand dollars of potentially personal expenses, of which 25-thousand has been reimbursed.
