CMHA's Mental Health Week events underway in Truro and area
Mental Health Week is underway across the country, and a number of events are planned in support of the Colchester-East Hants branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).
After a launch at Noveltea on Monday, the CMHA held "Walk Tall for Men's Mental Health" at the Marigold Cultural Centre last night with proceeds going toward the group's Branching Out Building Campaign.
It was the first event specifically for men, with speakers Andrew Lake and Tyler Simmonds shedding light on their own personal struggles and triumphs surrounding their mental health.
It was hosted by Big Dog 100.9/Cat Country 99.5's James Faulkner.
A similar initiative for women, called Women in Wellness, celebrated its 10th anniversary in January.
Dave Ritcey with Community Credit Union also presented a cheque to CMHA Executive Director Susan Henderson for $1,000.
A full list of local events for Mental Health Week can be found on the CMHA's Facebook page.
