Cumberland South by-election set for June 19

Voters in the provincial riding of Cumberland South will be going to the polls next month in a by-election to fill the seat left vacant by Jamie Baillie's resignation.

Baillie resigned as PC party leader and Cumberland South MLA back in January, after an investigation found he acted inappropriately and breached the legislature’s policy on workplace harassment.

The by-election is set for June 19.

An advance poll will be held in Parrsboro June 9, and then again June 11 through June 16, with community polls in Brookdale and Wentworth Centre June 15 and 16.

Three candidates have already registered: New Democrat Larry Duchesne, Scott Lockhart of the Liberal Party and Progressive Conservative Tory Rushton.
