Doctor and nursing shortages lead to more local ER closures

Temporary ER closures continue to plague communities in northern Nova Scotia due to doctor and nursing shortages.

The Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Collaborative Emergency Centre (CEC) in Tatamagouche will be closed overnight during August and September because of a lack of nursing coverage.

It will continue to remain open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays, from 8 am to 8 pm.

The ER in Pugwash is closed both Friday and Saturday, between 8 am & 8 pm, because of a lack of physician coverage

And, Springhill's emergency department will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 p.m. Saturday.
