Doctors Nova Scotia says it wants to come up with new payment model

Doctors Nova Scotia says it wants to come up with a new payment model to replace one it says it outmoded.

The professional association that represents physicians in the province says the problem is preventing members from doing their jobs.

They say under the fee-for-service payment model, doctors are usually compensated for the number of services they provide as opposed to the length of time they spend with patients.

That can sometimes mean patients are being pushed out the door before having all their issues addressed due to time constraints.
