Don't be scammed by an imposter: RCMP
Colchester District RCMP is issuing another warning about scammers claiming to be with the Canada Revenue Agency.
RCMP were contacted Wednesday after a woman received a call from an unknown man who identified himself as working for the CRA.
The man told the woman she was in arrears with her taxes and that if she didn't pay him in iTunes cards, he would have police come arrest her.
The Mounties say the woman then bought $1000 worth of iTunes cards and called the man back to give him the information for the cards.
The CRA does not have reps asking people to pay back taxes with iTunes cards and anyone receiving such a call should hang up the phone and report the call to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre by phone at 1-888-495-8501 (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time) or online at www.antifraudcentre.ca.
