Driver facing charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm

Police say a 27-year-old man from Greenwood is facing charges after a crash in Greenwood Square on Wednesday.

Kings District RCMP responded to a call around 9:00 p.m. that indicated a car had gone into the ditch on Ward Road in Greenwood Square and the driver had fled on foot.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the vehicle in the ditch but there was no one inside, and with help from witnesses, located the a man and a woman who had occupied the vehicle sitting in the ditch near the location of the collision.

Police say the man fled into the woods on foot and was arrested without incident after a shot foot pursuit, while the woman also fled the area on foot and was located in the ditch on the other side of the road.

RCMP say EHS were called and the woman was transported to hospital with unspecified injuries, while the man refused the offer of a medical assessment.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, the 27-year-old man from Greenwood was taken to Kingston Detachment where his breath test measured more than twice the legal limit.

The man is facing charges of impaired operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm, operation of a conveyance while over 80mg% and operating an unregistered vehicle.

RCMP say the man will appear in court on July 30.
