Emergency department in Tatamagouche closed for second weekend running
The Nova Scotia Health Authority says the emergency room at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital will be shut down Saturday and Sunday.
A release states the emergency department will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. both days due to a lack of physician coverage, but will be available during the overnight hours.
The province says patients with emergencies will be redirected to the Colchester East Hants Health Centre or the most appropriate emergency department for care during the daytime closures.
Overnight coverage is provided by the paramedic, registered nurse, oversight physician team.
This is the second weekend in a row the emergency department at the Lillian Fraser has been closed daily from Friday-Sunday.
It was closed last weekend from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and the holiday Monday.
Anyone experiencing a medical emergency at any time should immediately call 911, while the province says general health concerns can be directed to HealthLink 811.
