Falmouth home condemned after large sinkholes form
A house in Falmouth, N.S., has been condemned after three sinkholes formed on the property.
The family awoke to loud noises in the lower level of their two-storey home around 4 a.m. Sunday.
The homeowner tells CTV Atlantic she thought someone had broken in, and was shocked when police told her that the noise was actually her house falling into the soil beneath her.
Firefighters evacuated the home and began calling neighbours to make sure their homes were structurally sound.
No one was hurt, and officials say they are still investigating to determine the cause and whether the sinkhole will grow.
They say the house will likely be demolished in the next few days.
