Family of five displaced by fire in Murray Siding: Canadian Red Cross

A family of five has been displaced following a fire on Monday that damaged a bungalow in Murray Siding.

In a news release, The Canadian Red Cross says there were no injuries from the fire as the family was not home at the time.

The release says the couple and three children ages 11 to 17 are staying with relatives for now, but they received some emergency support from the Canadian Red Cross pending an assessment from insurers.

The fire was reported by a passing motorist around 10:30 a.m. at 747 Salmon River Road.

The Canadian Red Cross also says volunteers arranged emergency lodging and clothing purchases for a second person among four adults who were displaced by a fire late Sunday that damaged a house containing four apartments at 18 Laurie Street in Truro.

The other two made their own arrangements to stay with relatives or friends.
