Federal government announces more than $2 million for gender equality projects in Atlantic Canada
The federal government has announced more than $2 million for gender equality projects in Atlantic Canada.
Maryam Monsef, Minister of Status of Women, along with Saint John - Rothesay MP Wayne Long, made the announcement today the government will provide funding for projects that aim to help advance gender equality in Atlantic Canada.
Four projects have been chosen in the Atlantic region to receive funding, with one located in Nova Scotia.
A news release says the Antigonish Women's Resource Centre and Sexual Assault Services Association will receive $395,000 for the group's work to prevent sexual violence against women and girls in Antigonish County.
The release says other gender equality projects in the Atlantic region will be announced at a later date.
