Federal government announces support for Surrette Battery Company expansion in Springhill
The federal government has announced support for a $4.8 million project at Surrette Battery Company Limited to expand its operations in Springhill.
A repayable contribution of $2.45 million has been approved through ACOA's Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program.
The announcement follows a release from the provincial government on Wednesday of a $1.2 million innovation rebate through Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI).
Surrette plans to incorporate advanced robotics and automation at its production facility, and undergo a 25,000 square foot expansion.
ACOA says this project will also create up to 18 highly-skilled full-time positions in rural Nova Scotia.
