Federal government investing $500,000 into line of rescue boats to be used by Canada's Navy
The federal government says it's investing more than $500,000 into innovative 12 multi-role rescue boats to be used by Canada's Navy.
South Shore - St. Margaret's MP Bernadette Jordan announced the repayable contribution to Rosborough Boats Tuesday.
A news release from the government says this investment, provided through ACOA’s Business Development Program, will allow the rural Nova Scotia business to design a stronger and lighter line of rescue boats and will assist with the design, tooling, and creation of moldings for this line.
The release says the new design has captured the attention of governments around the world, increasing the company’s potential for export sales.
The boats will be used by the Navy in all conditions where the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships (AOPS) are operated, and it will be primarily used as a fast rescue boat to marshal and tow lifeboats.
