Fentanyl seized at Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility

The potent opiod fentanyl has been seized during a routine search at the provincial jail in Burnside.

A package with unknown contents was found at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in early February, turned over to police and sent to Health Canada for testing.

The results came back last Friday, confirming the presence of fentanyl.

This is the first confirmed case of fentanyl at a provincial Correctional Facility in Nova Scotia.

Police are investigating.
