Fire forces evacuation of Fenwick Tower in Halifax

Nearly 300 residents of Halifax's largest apartment building were forced to evacuate Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to Fenwick Tower around 12:30 p.m. after a fire started on the 26th floor of the building.

CTV Atlantic says there are reports of significant water damage on multiple floors caused by the building's sprinkler system.

The Canadian Red Cross was on scene, as well as Metro Transit buses to house the residents as emergency responders were on scene.

The 33-storey building is in the middle of a $125 million makeover.
