First-degree murder trial for Ernie Ross 'Junior' Duggan scheduled for Sept. 2019
The trial for a Bayhead man charged with first-degree murder in the death of 58-year-old Susan Butlin last September has been scheduled for five weeks next fall.
Ernie Ross "Junior" Duggan appeared in Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Truro on Friday morning for a pre-trial conference.
The judge and jury trial has been scheduled for September 16th to October 18th next year, with two weeks in April set aside for a pre-trial hearing.
Duggan was remanded back into custody until December 10th for another pre-trial conference between Crown and defence.
Justice Jeffrey Hunt also issued a publication ban on evidence and discussions during the open court proceedings.
A charge of attempted murder laid last year in relation to a stand-off with police was dropped last month and replaced with multiple firearms charges.
