Four orthopedic surgeons hired in NS
Four orthopedic surgeons have been hired, which is expected to help with wait times for hip and knee replacements.
One of the new surgeons is already working at the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville.
The other three will join teams at New Glasgow's Aberdeen Hospital, the Dartmouth General and the QEII Health Sciences Centre by September.
The province says the new surgeons will initially focus on seeing patents who have been facing long waits for hip or knee replacements.
Orthopedic surgeries in Nova Scotia are done at Dartmouth General Hospital, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, the Halifax Infirmary Hospital site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Aberdeen Hospital and Valley Regional Hospital.
Pediatric surgeries are done at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax.
