Friends of the Northumberland Strait hosting #NOPIPE open house

The Friends of the Northumberland Strait is hosting an open house Saturday.

The community group says the #NOPIPE Open House will aim to inform community members about the risks associated with Northern Pulp's proposal to discharge effluent into the Northumberland Strait.

The event is also designed to celebrate the strait's cultural significance and the economic importance of keeping it healthy.

The open house will include a presentation by The Mill: 50 Years's of Pulp and Paper author Joan Baxter, information displays, take action booths, and family activities.

It takes place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Northumberland Fisheries Museum.
