Future of Amherst Armoury and land still up in the air
Cumberland-Colchester MP Bill Casey says a final decision hasn't been made about the possible disposal of the Col. J. Layton Ralston Armoury in Amherst and land on Acadian Street.
Casey says Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan gave him the assurance, adding he's in regular contact with the Minister and Department on the issue.
He says the property has, however, been considered "surplus" by the Department of National Defence for many years, and is not used by the military for any purpose.
Cadets use the facility weekly, but the program is not run by the Department of National Defence.
Casey toured the facility earlier this year to discuss options with Amherst council and Ray Coulson, the curator of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders Regimental Museum.
