Government launches solar program for community buildings

The province says more communities in the province will be able to participate in clean electricity with the launch of a new solar pilot program.

Energy Minister Michel Samson launched the Solar Electricity for Community Buildings Program on Monday, and says it will provide a way for communities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by adopting a renewable source of energy.

The province says the program is open to registered non-profit or charitable organizations, municipalities or organizations owned by municipalities, universities or community colleges, and Mi'kmaw bands in Nova Scotia.
