Governor General announces 105 new appointments to the Order of Canada

Two Nova Scotians are among 105 new appointments to the Order of Canada.

Sherry Porter and David Glenn Fountain, both of Halifax, are two of the 82 new Members.

Governor General Julie Payette also named three Companions and twenty Officers.

Porter is being honoured "for her leading expertise in establishing Pier 21 as a national museum and for her community involvement in numerous endeavours spanning health, arts, culture and education."

Fountain is being honoured "for his sustained philanthropic commitment to the arts, education and charitable causes in Nova Scotia and beyond."

Recipients will be invited to accept their insignia at a ceremony to be held at a later date.
