Guilty pleas entered after a rash of thefts in Truro

A Truro man will be sentenced on July 18th after pleading guilty to eight counts of theft in Truro Provincial Court this week.

Fourty-one-year-old Michael Todd Whitman was arraigned on theft-related charges last Thursday and released on conditions.

Police arrested him less than two hours later, and he was charged in connection with a slew of thefts at the Truro Mall.

Whitman told Judge Al Bégin he doesn't remember much from that day.

He was again released on conditions, including being banned from the Truro Mall and property, Atlantic Superstore, and every Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation store.

The preparation of a pre-sentence report was ordered for his sentencing.
