Halifax police advise residents of increased patrols at Point Pleasant Park

Halifax police are advising citizens who use the city's oldest park to expect an increased police presence in the park on Sunday evenings.

As the weather gets warmer, a growing number of motorists and car enthusiasts have been gathering in the lower parking lot of Point Pleasant Park on those nights.

Police say due to the number of people attending these informal meetings, they're upping patrols.

A spokeswoman for the police says this will start this week and officers will issue summary offence tickets should the situation warrant.
