Halifax police warn public that high-risk sex offender may be living in Halifax

Halifax Regional Police say they are warning the public about a high-risk sex offender who may be living in Halifax.

Police say 57-year-old Christopher Michael Watts was released from a federal correctional facility in British Columbia on August 1st, after completing a sentence for manslaughter, sexual interference, and sexual assault.

They say he has shown "a pattern of providing large quantities of drugs to young girls and engaging in sexual activitiy with them without regard for their ability to consent."

Watts is described as white, standing 6' tall, weighing 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police say he is bound by a long-term supervision order with several conditions, including the statement that he is not to consume or purchase any alcohol or illegal drugs and he is not to own or use any device that would give him access to the internet.

Anyone who sees Watts violating such conditions is asked to contact the police.

Police say they will not tolerate any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct.
