Halifax sending around 75 tonnes of film plastic to landfill in another province

Halifax is sending roughly 75 tonnes of film plastic to a landfill in another province.

It is a portion of the 300 tonnes that have been stored for months, but is now so degraded the materials are unrecyclable.

The city says it is not revealing where the plastic is heading to prevent other recyclers from undercutting the price.

The recycling problem is linked to China's new import ban on certain wastes.
