Healing service held after Nova Scotia church fire

It's unclear when a historic church just outside Halifax will be able to reopen after being ravaged by a fire last week.

But Reverend Wallace Smith of St. Thomas Baptist Church in North Preston says services will continue in other locations that have offered up their space until the church is up and running again.

Scores of people dressed in white gathered yesterday for a healing service held at a community gym across the street from the roughly century-old church.

Smith told the crowd that the charred structure is just a building -- the congregation is the actual church.

No one was hurt in last Wednesday's fire but Smith says the building suffered about 200-thousand dollars in damage.

The church's finance officer says repairs will be covered by insurance.
