Heavy rain, power outages continue Wednesday
Thousands of people are without power this morning across Nova Scotia due to high winds and heavy rain that moved into the region Tuesday.
Nova Scotia Power's website is showing estimated restoration times of 11 a.m. Wednesday for most areas.
More heavy rain is expected at times through Wednesday for large parts of the Maritimes.
In central and northern Nova Scotia, Environment Canada says most areas will see up to 20 mm of rain by noon, with up to 30 mm in Pictou County.
The Chignecto-Central Regional School Board cancelled classes in Cumberland County on Wednesday due to road conditions.
They announced buses would only be traveling on paved roads in Colchester and Pictou counties, as well as East Hants.
The CCRSB says students on unpaved roads should go to nearest bus stop on a paved road, where they will be picked up and dropped off on Wednesday.
