Henderson Paris wins Pictou Centre NDP nomination

A former New Glasgow councillor has been nominated as the provincial NDP candidate for Pictou Centre.

Henderson Paris beat John Atwater for the nomination at a meeting Thursday night at Summer Street Industries.

Paris spent twelve years on council, including two terms as deputy mayor, before narrowly losing the town's mayoral race in October.

He has received numerous awards and honours, including an appointment to the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission as a Commissioner in October 2010.

The riding is currently held by Pat Dunn of the Progressive Conservatives, while Jeff Davis won the Liberal nomination back in December.
