Heritage designation possible for Truro Farmers' Market

The Town of Truro is looking at a municipal heritage designation for the Farmers' Market.

A public meeting to discuss the idea will be held July 11th.

The designation would help preserve the building, also known as the Central Engine House, and would make it available for a provincial rebate program.

It would be commemorated by the installation of a municipal heritage plaque.

The downside would be another layer of legislation, which could cause time delays if and when changes are proposed, as it would be subject to the Heritage Property Act.
