History made in New Glasgow with police officer promotions

History was made in New Glasgow Tuesday night.

Sergeant Darryl Paris became the first African Canadian Sergeant in the history of New Glasgow Regional Police while Corporal Claire Corkum-Timmons became the first female Corporal on the force.

Four other officers were also promoted during Tuesday's town council meeting.

Ryan Leil and Jason MacKinnon were both promoted to Sergeant and Nicholas Hirtle and Jason Lloyd were promoted to Corporal.

The promotions were presented by Chief Eric MacNeil and Mayor Nancy Dicks.
