Impaired charges pending after car rear-ends school bus in Digby County

A 71-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after hitting a school bus from behind in Digby County.

The RCMP say the incident happened at 2:30 p.m. yesterday as the bus was stopped with its red lights flashing on Highway 1 in Grosses Coques.

Students were getting off the bus when it was struck from behind by a small car.

Police say the car was heavily damaged and officers noted signs of impairment from the driver.

The man from Grosses Coques was arrested and transported to the Meteghan RCMP Detachment for a breath test, where his blood alcohol level was found to be nearly three times the limit.

No one was hurt as a result of the collision and the man is due in court on June 10th.
