Impaired driver arrested in Pictou County after call from public

Police say a 44-year-old Colchester County man was arrested near Haliburton for impaired driving after a complaint from a concerned caller.

Officers responded around 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday to a report of a dangerous driver on Highway 6 in the community of Three Brooks.

RCMP were told a vehicle was travelling at high speed, passing on solid lines and forcing other vehicles off the road.

Police located the suspect vehicle on Highway 6 near the community Haliburton and they say the driver was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, Operation of a Conveyance With a Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80mg% and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

RCMP say the driver was transported to Pictou Detachment where he provided breath samples that were twice the legal limit.

He will appear in Pictou Provincial Court at a later date.
