Lawyer appointed to manage consolidation of the Windsor and West Hants

The province has appointed a lawyer with Cox and Palmer in Halifax to manage the consolidation of the Windsor and West Hants municipalities.

Kevin Latimer will work with the transition committee, including the mayor and deputy mayor of Windsor and the warden and deputy warden of West Hants.

In July, the two councils passed motions agreeing to enter negotiations to consolidate through legislation and form a regional municipality.

Legislation was passed in the fall to allow this consolidation, and it's expected to be completed by April 2020.

Upon incorporation of the new regional municipality the provisions of the Municipal Government Act will apply.
