Local municipal officials working on emergency measures notification system
The Town of Truro and County of Colchester are working on the implementation of an emergency and advisory notification system.
People will have the option to decide how they want to be reached, either by phone, email, or text message, and what information they want to receive.
Emergency notification is described as "affecting the health and safety of residents," which should also be sent to a secondary address if possible.
Advisories would include road and facility closures, water utility notices, special waste collection, and planning.
An e-newsletter is also being proposed, where an email once a month would provide information on upcoming events and programs.
According to a report to Truro Town Council, staff will be working over the next month to have people sign up for the service.
