Longtime NDP MLA Lenore Zann to seek federal Liberal nomination

Longtime NDP MLA Lenore Zann has decided to seek the Liberal nomination for Cumberland-Colchester in the upcoming federal election.

Zann made the announcement during celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of first being elected as MLA for the Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River riding.

She will now sit as an independent member in the provincial legislature as she seeks the federal nomination.

Zann is the fourth person to announce interest in the Liberal nomination for Cumberland-Colchester.

The other three are Joel Henderson, Matt Rushton and Jim Hardiman.

The seat is currently held by Liberal MP Bill Casey, who had previously announced he will not reoffer in October's federal election.
