MADD Canada, police forces team up for Operation Christmas

MADD Canada is once again teaming up with Nova Scotia law enforcement agencies to help keep impaired drivers off the road.

The annual Operation Christmas campaign is underway for another year, with a goal of reducing impaired driving and encouraging motorists to practice safe winter driving.

Police will set up checkpoints targeting impaired drivers across the province throughout the holiday season.

Justice Minister Mark Furey says driving while impaired puts the public at great risk and everyone has a responsibility to stop it.

Furey says Nova Scotians who plan to drink this holiday season should arrange for a safe way home, and those who are with someone who has been drinking should not let them drive.

Motorists are also encouraged to call 9-1-1 if they see a driver who appears to be impaired.
