Man charged following firearms incident in Cumberland County
A 30-year-old Cumberland County man is facing a number of charges after a call indicating a man with a gun was running towards a home on Old Halifax Road in Stanley.
Cumberland District RCMP, including an RCMP dog and handler, responded just before 1 p.m. on Monday and say the man was wearing a balaclava and camouflage clothing, and was carrying a rifle with a scope.
The suspect was arrested without incident and no one was hurt.
Police say the suspect and the residents of the home are known to one another.
Tyler Dara Stronge of New Salem was transported to the Amherst Detachment where he was held in custody until a court appearance yesterday.
He's charged with two counts each of failing to comply with an undertaking and careless use of a firearm, and one count each of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, weather a mask while committing an indictable offence, possession of a break-in instrument, possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Stronge was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court tomorrow.
