Man charged with impaired driving following Halifax-area crash

Police say a 36-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges following a single-vehicle crash in the Halifax area.

Mounties say a vehicle struck a utility pole in Loon Lake around 10:45 p.m. Thursday.

They say no one was hurt, and the driver fled the scene on foot.

Police say Kevin Charles Purcell of Beaver Bank is charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol content over 80 milligrams, and driving while disqualified.

He was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Friday.
