Man facing charges after allegedly wielding knife, threatening hospital staff

Brief bedlam erupted at a hospital emergency room Thursday night in Halifax, when a man allegedly threatened staff with a knife and hurled objects.

Police say they were called to the QEII hospital at about 7 p.m. for a report of a man armed with a knife.

Const. John MacLeod says the man yelled threats at hospital staff and threw items inside the waiting room after being asked to leave for causing a disturbance.

He says officers found him nearby on Trollope and Rainnie streets and arrested him without incident.

Police say a 56-year-old Halifax man is facing several charges.

Khaled Samara is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, uttering threats and causing a disturbance.
