Man in custody following carjacking in Truro

A 35-year-old Moncton man is in custody with the Truro Police Service after a carjacking in the downtown area Wednesday morning.

Police Chief Dave MacNeil tells the Truro Daily News that a 60-year-old man was pulled from his car onto a sidewalk after the vehicle pulled over on Prince Street, near Waddell Street.

MacNeil says the victim's iPhone was still in the car and they were able to use that to track the vehicle to the Great Village area.

He says the RCMP were able to find the vehicle, and the man was located with the aid of a police service dog.

The victim was treated in hospital for undisclosed injuries, while the suspect is due in Truro Provincial Court on Thursday morning.
