Man killed, woman injured in Queens County house fire

A man is dead and a woman is in hospital following a house fire in Nova Scotia's Queens County.

The RCMP say the blaze broke out on St. Catherines River Road in Port Joli on Tuesday morning.

Police say a neighbour heard a loug bang and then saw that the house was on fire.

Snow plow operators had to help emergency crews get to the home.

Police say an 89-year-old man was found dead inside, while a woman was pulled from the home by a 25-year-old man working in the area.

She was airlifted to hospital in Halifax with undetermined injuries.

Mounties say the fire is not believed to be suspicious, but is still under investigation.
