Man questions why mother was transferred between hospitals in taxi
A Cape Breton man wants to know why his 92-year-old mother was transferred from one hospital to another in a taxi rather than an ambulance while she was in medical distress.
Joe Young says his mom was taken from Glace Bay Hospital to Cape Breton Regional Hospital after she got sick at home on Oct. 1.
He says tests were done, she was discharged and told she could go to a regional hospital by taxi after she started having chest pains again.
Brett MacDougall of the Nova Scotia Health Authority says it is not common to do hospital transfers by taxi.
