Man seriously hurt, another facing charges after ATV crash in Springhill
One man is in hospital and another is facing charges after an all-terrain vehicle struck a pole in Cumberland County.
RCMP Cpl. Dal Hutchinson says the crash happened on McGee Street in Springhill shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday.
"Initial investigation indicates the ATV was travelling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control on a turn and struck a pole," Hutchinson said in a news release Monday morning.
Hutchinson said the passenger, a 19-year-old man from Amherst, was transported to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre with serious injuries.
He said the driver, a 26-year-old man from Springhill, was arrested after fleeing the scene, and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
"Charges are pending against the driver under the Off Highway Vehicle Act, Motor Vehicle Act and Criminal Code," Hutchinson said.
Police say their investigation is ongoing.
