Mechanical pets give memory care residents at Glen Haven Manor comfort & joy

Glen Haven Manor has some new additions to the facility that are making a positive impact.

"Duke" and "Duchess" were the first of a number of mechanical pets that were introduced to memory care residents at Glen Haven in the spring.

The mechanical dogs and cats are designed to replicate an experience that brings comfort, joy, fun, calming and soothing.

They demonstrate the power of play for all ages and are also objects of care giving for the residents who feel an increased sense of purpose and affection.

Available 24/7 the mechanical pets at Glen Haven augment the joy and therapeutic benefits brought to the long-term care facility by the four St. John Ambulance therapy dogs that visit Glen Haven and its residents every week.

The number of mechanical pets at Glen Haven has since increased to ten.
