Messy mix of weather expected Wednesday
It's going to be a warm day Wednesday, but a system bringing snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain has to move through first.
A special weather statement issued early in the morning by Environment Canada says total snowfall amounts of up to 10 centimetres and several hours of freezing rain are forecast.
The weather agency says the storm will switch to rain later Wednesday morning in central and northern Nova Scotia, with a high of around 10 degrees.
All schools within the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board are closed, while school board offices and work sites will have a two-hour delayed opening.
The closure of schools also means that any planned Grade Primary registration sessions are also cancelled.
Another low pressure system is in the forecast for Thursday, with snow and strong winds across Nova Scotia later in the afternoon and into the evening.
