Minimum wage in Nova Scotia to increase 15 cents per hour

Nova Scotia's minimum wage is increasing 15 cents per hour on April 1st.

In a report submitted to the province, the Minimum Wage Review Committee recommended minimum wage move to $10.85 per hour.

The minimum wage for someone with less than three months' experience will also see a 15 cents per hour increase to $10.35.

Nova Scotia's minimum wage rates are reviewed annually, and adjusted based on the previous year's national Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The formula used is to take the previous year's CPI, in this case a projected 1.4 percent, multiply it by the current minimum wage, and round to the nearest $0.05.
