Minor flood at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre
A broken water filter canister is being blamed for a minor flood at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan.
The Nova Scotia Health Authority says the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
A news release says staff and physicians were able to contain the water near the operating suites on the second floor, with some residual damage in the laboratory collection and ambulatory care departments on the first floor.
All surgical and endoscopy cases scheduled for Monday and Tuesday have been postponed, and are being rebooked.
If additional surgical cancellations are necessary, the health authority says patients will be contacted directly.
Cleanup is ongoing, and the health authority says no patients had to be relocated as a result of the flood.
