MMIWG representatives visit Millbrook
Representatives from the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls are in Millbrook Thursday.
Denise Pictou Maloney, Community Liasion for Nova Scotia, tells our newsroom they're offering a private registration process to give families the opportunity to share their stories and learn more about the national inquiry.
She says that will let them make an informed decision about whether or not they would like to participate in a community hearing in Halifax on October 30th where they can testify and document their stories.
Maloney says the purpose of this hearing is to use personal stories as a way to really look at the systemic issues associated with why there are so many missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls in Canada.
Families can continue to register for the hearing until the fall by contacting Maloney.
She can be reached by phone at (902) 440-6901 or by email.
